Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 7

Rutgers should be 6-0 right now. That loss to Penn State never should have happened, and with the Nittany Lions now having 2 losses and losing to Michigan, whom the Scarlet Knights beat, we feel safe dropping Penn State below this team. But unfortunately, Rutgers didn’t play last weekend, and other teams played well enough to jump them in the power rankings. That’s why their position is unchanged.

This team is starting to look like a complete group under Kyle Flood. Gary Nova is turning into a star, and it might be time to look into his NFL credentials going forward. He is clearly a great quarterback, and his 400 yards against Michigan willed the Scarlet Knights to victory. Let’s also give credit to Leonte Carroo, who has turned into a superstar wide receiver for Nova to throw to. When you take that into account with a very good defense, this is a great team. And if it could have 1 of its 5 turnovers back from the 3-point loss to Penn State, it would be undefeated.

We’ll find out for sure how legitimate this team is soon enough. Ohio State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin are on the slate next, and they still have to play Michigan State and Maryland at the end of the year. By the way, Ohio State, Nebraska, Michigan State, and Maryland are all road games. So this team could easily slip to 6-6.

Until they prove themselves against the brutal stretch of the Big Ten schedule, we can’t put them in the top half of the conference.
