USC Rises, UCLA Falls in Week 7 Pac 12 Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz Pac 12 Power Rankings Week 7
Oregon is back in business. At least agains suspect teams in the trenches, that is. The Ducks impressed everybody with their blowout win at UCLA. Sure, UCLA may not be as good as we thought, but the same could have been said for Oregon going into Saturday. And with the college football world watching, the Ducks made sure to win comfortably.
So why don’t we have them No. 1? Well, they can’t be there when the team that beats them has the same record as them. That’s a life lesson to remember. Still, Marcus Mariota looks like a superstar at quarterback, and the line managed to do a good enough job to keep the Ducks from being caught up on by the rising Bruins. With that happening, we have to give credit to the Ducks and say this offense truly is great. But there are still more games to probe.
The Ducks have Washington this week and Cal the week after that. But Stanford and Utah could both pose match-up threats to this team, as Stanford has done each of the past two years in beating them. The Ducks should win out if they want to be in the playoff race for sure because that will get them enough quality wins along with the win against Michigan State to keep them in the Top 4.
Those quality wins, though, are enough to keep this 1-loss team at No. 2. But they can’t be above the No. 1 team.
