Saturday Blitz Vegas ACC Predictions Week 7

Syracuse Orange at Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Line: Syracuse by 5.5

The Syracuse Orange have proven to be in big trouble in Scott Shafer’s second season as head coach. But there’s a silver lining: the Terrel Hunt injury might have given the team a better quarterback in A.J. Long. This pathetic offense needs a spark in the passing game, and he might be what they need. But against Wake Forest, the goal for the freshman should be to simply not make mistakes. Wake Forest obviously has a terrible offense, so the Syracuse defense should be fine. But the Orange offense needs to focus on solely not turning the ball over or making mistakes. Doing that should be enough for this team to get a low-scoring victory on the road.

Wake Forest, meanwhile, still has a pathetic offense that is not going anywhere, but the defense isn’t bad. Dave Clawson’s squad needs to try to force as many turnovers as possible with the Orange starting a freshman quarterback, and that will give them plenty of chances to pull off the upset. With this likely being a low-scoring game, the Demon Deacons have to be the ones to make unlikely plays because you can’t count on their offense to move the ball at all. They are capable of pulling off this upset at home, though.

Prediction

This will be a low-scoring, boring, defensive affair with one offense focused on not making mistakes and another offense that is just pathetic. The winner goes to the offense focused on not making mistakes. Syracuse has had a bad season so far, but they should be able to pull out an ugly victory here on the road.
