USC Trojans running back Tre Madden has been bothered by a football ailment through the season. They were hopeful he could return for the meat of the

Pac-12

schedule.

On Thursday, he met with his parents and head coach Steve Sarkisian to discuss the best course of action for the remainder of the season. Tre Madden will be sitting out the remainder of the 2014 season.

“We’re moving forward,” Tre’s father, Curtis Madden, said by phone via Michael Lev of The Orange Count Register. “It’s disappointing that he’s not going to be able to contribute this season. But there’s next year and the year after that.”

Tre Madden is a redshirt junior and just wants to prove he can be a big-time player in what will likely be his final season in 2015 (although he could apply for a medical waiver).

“He wants to show he’s capable of being the type of running back he (was) at the beginning of last year,” Curtis Madden said.

Tre Madden has rushed for 703 yards and three touchdowns on 138 carries in his career.
