Seemingly everyone in the country has turned on Florida State Seminoles’ quarterback Jameis Winston over the last year. Every day there is another story involving Winston and every day there are several articles written tearing him down.
Jameis Winston’s teammates don’t share those sentiments.
During a taped segment on ESPN’s College GameDay, two of the Seminoles’ leaders, wide receiver Rashad Greene and defensive end Mario Edwards, Jr., defended Jameis Winston.
“That’s just what it is for us, its a distraction, we’re not going to pay attention to that,” Greene said via Josh Newberg of 24/7 Sports. “At the end of the day it just brings us closer. That’s my brother, I love him and I’m going to be in his corner till the end.”
Edwards shared the same thoughts.
“It’s a brotherhood,” Edwards Jr. said. “The only thing that matters is the people in this locker room. We don’t focus on the outside distractions. We remember we got a big game to play and we’re going to go out there and play it.”
The second-ranked Seminoles have a colossal match up with the fifth-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday night. They will kick-off from Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida at 8:00 pm EST and the game is on ABC.
