Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 8

Louisville is clearly a very good team in Bobby Petrino’s first year, and it is just a couple of crazy plays away from being undefeated. The Cardinals have played very good football en route to a 6-2 record on the year, and they are clearly not going anywhere in the future with Petrino at the helm and in the thick of ACC play.

Will Gardner’s return to form in his second game back Saturday was obviously hugely helpful, but what has stuck out with this Louisville team is the No. 4 ranked defense in the country, allowing only 14.6 points per game. N.C. State’s Jacoby Brissett appeared to be returning to form Saturday, but the Cardinals still held him in check. That’s incredibly impressive. And the offense will only get better down the road.

Now, we get to find out just how good this team is, though. With a bye week this Saturday, the stage is set for that epic Oct. 30 Thursday night home showdown against Florida State. Louisville will be prepared to play that game, so if they win, or if they even play it close, then we will know that this is a legitimate football team.

We have put them at No. 4 on our power rankings right now believing that they are.
