Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 8

After a rough start to the season, these Clemson Tigers have looked like the old Clemson Tigers recently. Dabo Swinney’s group has actually looked great ever since the blowout loss to Georgia in the opener, dominating everybody and only losing to Florida State in overtime 23-17. And that game was in Tallahassee. So consider how good this team is now.

It also has enough talent to win with whomever is starting. Cole Stoudt started on Saturday against Boston College and did nothing to lose the game, throwing for 285 yards in the 17-13 win. The ability to win with Stoudt or Deshaun Watson is a testament to Swinney, and the defense is what really stands out this year, giving up only an average of 20 points per game on the year.

At 5-2, we have also put this team back in our overall Top 25, and going forward there is a chance to move to 10-2. With Wake Forest, Georgia State, and Syracuse on the schedule, the Tigers should be guaranteed to go 8-4, and then South Carolina and Georgia Tech are probable wins. That could mean a repeat of last year despite so many losses.

And it’s also prove that Swinney is clearly building a program deserving of being consistently one of the top ACC teams.
