Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 8

By hook or crook, the Florida State Seminoles keep winning. Technically, the win against Notre Dame was fair and square, but that pick call is never made in college football, so it’s still disappointing that the refs made it there. However, a win is a win, and the Seminoles have now made it to 7-0 with quality wins over Oklahoma State, Clemson, and of course, the Irish.

They remain the top team in our ACC Power Rankings, and there’s no reason to suggest otherwise. Jameis Winston showed why he can be a star on Saturday. His accuracy still comes and goes, but despite all the distractions, his ability to stay calm throughout the game, his football IQ, and just his overall intangibles shined. Every time Florida State was in trouble, Winston was there to respond, and he showed why he is a Heisman winner.

The rough schedule is not over, and the Seminoles next have a Thursday night road showdown with Louisville. That’s going to be an incredibly tough game to win, so we aren’t ready to relax and say they are assured an undefeated season after escaping Notre Dame. Jimbo Fisher had better make his team aware of that too because after Louisville, Miami and Virginia can’t be slept on.

Going undefeated for this team isn’t a given. But it is still right now the best team in the ACC by far, so we are going to keep these Seminoles at No. 1 until they are knocked down.
