Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 8

Boston College obviously deserves some respect for playing Clemson very close, and Steve Addazio’s second team looks shockingly bowl bound after playing so well in so many games. But for right now, we can’t put them that high on our list of ACC teams. Let’s not forget that Cole Stoudt was back in the lineup for Clemson, and although Stoudt isn’t bad, he’s no Deshaun Watson. We’re not going to bump this team for playing a team with a backup quarterback to a close loss.

The Eagles are clearly a very good offense with Tyler Murphy leading the team in passing and rushing and playing very good football, but they showed on Saturday that they can be shut down. Clemson held the high-powered Boston College rush offense to 120 yards, which is remarkable. That shows glaring weaknesses in Boston College that can be exposed. Luckily for them, though, a bowl is very likely.

Boston College still gets to play Wake Forest and Syracuse and only needs 2 wins to get to a bowl. If they don’t win both games, although they should, then Virginia Tech is a possible win. Florida State and Louisville are tough games, but it shouldn’t matter with the Eagles looking at 6 wins.

And although we have them this low in our ACC Power Rankings, that’s impressive given how young they are.
