Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 8

That’s right, we’ve now moved Mike London’s Virginia Cavaliers back into the top half of the ACC. And that’s after a loss. This was their first ACC loss, and the other two came against BYU and UCLA. That’s nowhere near enough for us to knock this team too far down the ACC, so what did we do? Move it up, of course.

The Cavaliers play tough defense. Unfortunately, they ran into a struggle with Duke, but this is still a Top 40 defense only giving up 22 points per game, and it’s offense is decent, averaging 29 points a game. The Cavs have been in every game this year, not losing any by more than 8 points, and they simply gave the UCLA game away. They could easily be 5-2 right now, and they aren’t a fluke.

Going forward, though, the schedule will cement if they are a good team or not. North Carolina is up next, but then comes Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida State, and Virginia Tech. Virginia has to beat the Tar Heels and one of those other four teams to get to 6 wins. It may be tough, but they can do it.

This is one of the better ACC teams right now, and we’re not sleeping on them after a loss.
