Saturday Blitz Pac 12 Power Rankings Week 8

Cal is your typical Pac 12 team that could be 6-1 right now or could be 2-5 due to their close games. They lost another heartbreaker to the UCLA Bruins on Saturday, further proving they can play with anybody but are having trouble finishing games. At least they have shown dramatic improvement over last year, and to be in contention for a bowl game is nothing short of remarkable.

Jared Goff has officially joined the list of great Pac 12 quarterbacks this year as he threw for another 303 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Bruins on Saturday, but with this team it needs to be more. Cal, like other Pac 12 teams, wins with heavy passing and no defense or run game, so 350 yards and 4 touchdowns has to be the bar for this team. Luckily, Daniel Lasco is a good enough running back to add another element to the offense. And at 4-3 Cal is going to need everybody to get 2 more wins.

Oregon is up next, and that tough game speaks for itself. With Oregon State, USC, Stanford, and BYU to follow, the Golden Bears could possibly lose out. But they could also reach 8 wins, depending on how complete the offense plays.

If it plays together, we’ll be moving this team up the list soon.
