Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 8

The Auburn Tigers got a much-needed bye after losing to Mississippi State last week in such bad fashion. Gus Malzahn’s group could have easily won that game without so many mistakes. But this team still has the best resume of any 1-loss team, and it’s a little bit unfair to demote them simply for not playing. But we’ll explain soon why we had to.

Auburn honestly has still one of the most prolific offenses with Nick Marshall throwing the ball, and he continues to show that he can be accurate when the time comes. Unfortunately, that didn’t show against Mississippi State at the end, but the rain and cold weather might have had something to do with that. The defense is also much better this year, so talent-wise this could be a better overall team.

But the work isn’t finished. South Carolina, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Georgia are still on the schedule. Auburn not only needs help to win the West but has to go through that brutal stretch. And then, if all that happens, they still have to get through the Iron Bowl. So getting to Atlanta for this team is going to be hard.

But the Tigers have the capabilities to do it.
