SEC Power Rankings Week 8: Missouri, LSU, Alabama Rise
Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 8
Well it looks like South Carolina got back on track after beating…Furman? Okay, let’s stop and laugh about that for a second. Maybe the pollsters will be “fooled” again after that one and put the Gamecocks back in. But in all seriousness, South Carolina is 4-3, and at least they got a much-needed desperation win coming off of a bye week after what happened the previous two weeks.
The Gamecocks appear to be slowly adjusting to the 3-4 switch, which is crucial for them if they want to turn this season around and start winning games in the conference again. But Dylan Thompson’s accuracy is always coming and going, and that is something that could easily do this team in going forward,. An inaccurate quarterback in a Steve Spurrier system is not a good thing, and it could cause lots of problems down the road.
With Auburn up next, South Carolina likely has another loss, but then Tennessee, Florida, and South Alabama are up. They need to win all three just to reach 7 wins, and Clemson is a must-win likely to get to at least 8-4. So the road is still very tough for this team going forward, even if 2 wins on this schedule are at least likely.
And given where we have them in our power rankings, it may not be.
