SEC Power Rankings Week 8: Missouri, LSU, Alabama Rise
Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 8
Clearly the Arkansas Razorbacks are better this year. Clearly they are heading in the right direction under Bret Bielema. And clearly they have an identity that works. But we are not going to put this team in the top half of SEC teams until they start winning SEC games. That can be considered unfair all day, but to us it’s just a fact. They had another chance against Georgia and blew it.
The good news is it’s bound to happen soon. With the Razorbacks’ running game, somebody has got to slip up and lose to them. Williams and Collins are simply running too well for this team to stumble to 3-9 again, but to get back to a bowl game, this defense is going to have to step up in some of those big games. It hasn’t yet. And the bowl looks harder.
Sure, UAB can get them to 4 wins, but then they have Mississippi State, LSU, Ole Miss, and Missouri to close out the season. Two of those have to be wins, and that seems highly unlikely. But it’s also highly possibly, especially when you focus specifically on LSU and Missouri. Getting to 6-6 will take some work, but it can happen.
This is clearly a middle of the pack SEC team stuck in an unfortunate division.
