An already disappointing season just got worse for the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Not only are the Hokies seeing their ACC Championship hopes falling before their eyes but they have also lost one of their best players and leaders.

Defensive tackle Luther Maddy was only expected to miss a few weeks with a knee injury but on Monday he took to twitter to explain that he was going to miss the rest of the season due another knee surgery.

Luther Maddy last played in a 27-20 loss to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets back on September 20. He was originally hurt in the Hokies’ 28-21 loss to the East Carolina Pirates a week earlier.

Luther Maddy had 13.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks last season but went relatively unnoticed in the ACC thanks to Timmy Jernigan of the Florida State Seminoles and Aaron Donald of the Pittsburgh Panthers.
