Saturday Blitz Vegas SEC Predictions Week 9

No. 1 Mississippi State Bulldogs at Kentucky Wildcats

Line: Mississippi State by 14

Kentucky finally woke up to reality last weekend, but a reality we thought would eventually hit Mississippi State has never come. The Bulldogs return off a bye week with right now the best player in college football in Dak Prescott and an all-around complete offense that goes well with a pretty good defense. Against Kentucky, Dan Mullen simply needs to run his game plan with a more rush-heavy offense. LSU showed last week that Kentucky can’t defend the rushing attack, so there’s no point to deviate from that. The Bulldogs defense, meanwhile, simply needs to do what it has been doing against an offense that couldn’t do anything last week.

And that’s where Kentucky’s keys come in. The defense is going to have some issues at times, but Patrick Towles could have played a heck of a lot better at quarterback than the way he played last week, and Mikel Horton and Stanley Williams could provide a little more help in the running game. If those things don’t happen, Kentucky has no chance, especially with the weak rush defense they have shown themselves to have.

Prediction

Mississippi State is going to run all over Kentucky. The Mullen-style spread offense will torch them with Prescott and Josh Robinson combining for 300 yards on the ground, and Prescott will add another 200 through the air. The Bulldogs win in a blowout.
