Saturday Blitz Vegas Pac 12 Predictions Week 9

No. 14 Arizona State Sun Devils at Washington Huskies

With two UCLA losses now and Arizona State playing Notre Dame later in the season, the Sun Devils are the only Pac-12 team right now in control of their own destiny to win the Pac-12 championship AND reach the College Football Playoff. Think about that. Now they face a team on the road similar to the team they beat last week. To beat Washington, Arizona State needs to focus on its newfound rush defense that stopped Stanford. If it can keep Washington in check, all that’s left for the Sun Devils, whomever is starting at quarterback, is to not turn the ball over. If that happens, Arizona State wins.

Washington, meanwhile, has to just hope that Arizona State’s defensive performance last week was a fluke and stick with the running game. Cyler Miles showed that while he can be efficient at quarterback, he can’t carry a team to victory. Chris Petersen is aware that such a job belongs to Lavon Coleman, who was shut down last week and can’t let that happen again. The Huskies also have to make sure they don’t turn the ball over, and they have to find a few big plays, which Arizona State is prone to giving up. That includes touchdown plays and turnovers. That’s how they can win this game at home.

Prediction

Arizona State has already proven it matches up well with a team like Stanford because it can play just as efficient and not turn the ball over. Washington is a much lesser Stanford, so the Sun Devils will win this game easily. It won’t be as much of a blowout because the ASU rush defense was a fluke last week and will struggle some on Saturday, but it won’t be a game you can’t take your eyes off either. Arizona State pulls out a solid victory.
