Vegas Big Ten Predictions Week 9: Every Game Matters
Saturday Blitz Vegas Big Ten Predictions Week 7
Rutgers Scarlet Knights at No. 16 Nebraska Cornhuskers
Line: Nebraska by 17.5
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are trying to prove they aren’t pretenders at 5-2 under Kyle Flood, but that’s a hard sell after last week’s blowout loss. This week, with a visit to Nebraska, they have a chance to prove us wrong. Gary Nova has looked like a great quarterback at times this year, and that’s going to be needed against the Cornhuskers. They also have to make sure they don’t turn the ball over, and the defense is desperately going to have to find a way to stop an offense that can run it in many ways and has a mobile quarterback. If those things don’t happen, this team has no chance.

With the First Pick
Nebraska, meanwhile, just needs to stick to being Nebraska. Let Tommy Armstrong, Jr. run this option-style spread and use his mobility and good enough passing to loosen up the Scarlet Knights, and then Bo Pelini should be able to turn Ameer Abdullah loose. He should be the one to torch Rutgers, as he has seemingly done to everybody this year. If Pelini’s team can do that and then play good defense, this should be a comfortable win for the Cornhuskers, who are trying to prove that they aren’t pretenders either. Only they’re trying to prove that on the College Football Playoff stage.
Prediction
Nebraska will have no trouble running it down Rutgers’s throat all night, and the Scarlet Knights won’t be able to do anything to stop it. Nova will get confused by Pelini’s defenses, and the Cornhuskers pull out an easy home win.
