Saturday Blitz Vegas Prediction:

Vanderbilt Commodores

Congratulations to Derek Mason and the Vanderbilt Commodores for filling their schedule with enough pathetic teams to get to 3 wins. The Commodores will get their third non-conference win, and likely their last win of the season, against a 3-5 Old Dominion team.

Vanderbilt, as surprising as it sounds, is actually getting better though. They only lost 24-14 to Missouri, and Mason’s defense is slowly finally adjusting to that 3-4 defensive switch Mason installed at the beginning of the year. That should be helpful going into Saturday.

Johnny McCrary has given a little bit of life to this absolutely pathetic offense, which is something else to be slightly encouraged about, and since the 41-3 blowout loss to Ole Miss, the only team to beat these guys by more than two scores was Georgia, when they won 44-17.

That shows an improving bunch of guys, and although it won’t mean much for the rest of this season, it will help them pull out a win here. The defense will finally step up and have a good game, and the offense will score a surprising amount of points with McCrary finally settling in.

The Commodores get their first comfortable win of the year.
