Saturday Blitz Vegas Prediction:

Nebraska Cornhuskers

This wasn’t a hard choice to make, obviously, but it is hard for us to say Nebraska will win in a blowout. The Cornhuskers have looked great and appear to be getting better every week. But so does Purdue.

Darrell Hazell’s Boilermakers are playing much better football this year and haven’t been embarrassed since that early loss to Central Michigan. Their last game was a 39-38 loss to Minnesota, and it’s safe for us to say that this team is much more formidable than last year’s team.

That’s enough for us to say that this game won’t be a crazy blowout, especially since Purdue has a decent offense now. Nebraska will win because Purdue won’t be able to stop Ameer Abdullah and Tommy Armstrong, Jr., and the defense will do just enough to hold the Purdue offense in check for most of the game.

That’s going to give Bo Pelini’s Cornhuskers a very solid victory at home, improving them to 8-1 and dropping Purdue to 3-6. But don’t bet on Nebraska to cover the insanely large 23.5 spread in the process. Even if this is like the old school Nebraska teams, that spread is too much.
