Blitz Points: College Football Top Performers from Week 10
Oct 30, 2014; Louisville, KY, USA; Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston (5) looks to pass against the Louisville Cardinals during the second half at Papa John
Jameis Winston, Quarterback, Florida State Seminoles- 25 of 48 for 401 Yards, 3 Touchdowns (Defeated Louisville Cardinals 42-31)
It may have seemed crazy for us to put Jameis Winston on this when the Seminoles were down 24-7 to Louisville on the road Thursday night. He had thrown 3 interceptions and looked absolutely pathetic.
But once again, Winston’s intangibles came through, and he willed his team to victory. After starting the game 10 of 23 for barely more than 100 yards and 3 interceptions, Winston finished going 15 of 25 for nearly 300 yards and 3 touchdowns. That’s what a superstar does in superstar moments. He kept Florida State in the national title hunt by coming through in the biggest moments, again.
Down 24-7, Winston completed a touchdown bomb to Travis Rudolph immediately in response. He then began to find Nick O’Leary and Dalvin Cook in the flats a lot to pick up more yards. And then he completed touchdown passes to Ermon Lane and Freddie Stevenson.
Winston’s motion is still ugly, he’s got some accuracy issues to work on, and he was the one who dug the whole in the first place Thursday. But he clearly embraces the big moments and always comes through in adversity on the field, so once again, he is one of our Blitz Points winners.
