Nov 1, 2014; Oxford, MS, USA; Ole Miss Rebels linebacker Senquez Golson (21) intercepts a pass intended for Auburn Tigers wide receiver D

3. Senquez Golson, Senior Defensive Back, Ole Miss Rebels

Last Game: 1 Interception Returned for 21 Yards (Lost to Auburn Tigers 35-31)

2014 Season: 9 Interceptions Returned for 126 Yards, 23 Total Tackles, 1 TD

You didn’t think 2 losses would keep this defensive stud off the Heisman list, did you? A 2-loss SEC West team is as relevant as any national contender, and Golson is still dominating on the defensive side of the ball. Don’t forget that it was Golson who saved the game against Alabama with an interception, and he now has had an interception in each of the past five games.

That’s incredible.

With 9 interceptions on the year and a whole month of football still left to play, Golson is looking like one of the best defensive backs to ever play the game of college football. He has leaped off of everybody’s television screen every week. If Ole Miss can get back into the title hunt, and it can, Golson deserves consideration. For weeks he has covered for Bo Wallace’s ineptitude. And he is the best player on one of the best defenses in the country.

So we’re keeping him in our Heisman conversation.
