Saturday Blitz Vegas Big 12 Prediction: West Virginia Wins 30-21
The oddsmakers are right to predict that this game will be close, but we are going to give a little bit more of an edge to West Virginia. This is still a very good team whose offense got caught in bad weather last week. Dana Holgorsen, Clint Trickett, and Kevin White will right the ship on Saturday, giving the Mountaineers a road win agains Charlie Strong’s Longhorns.
West Virginia has a suspect defense, but thankfully Texas has had troubles on offense all year with Tyrone Swoopes and a host of inexperienced players. That inexperience and lack of depth will be enough for West Virginia to hold this team from scoring too much, even though Texas will put up a few touchdowns since they are improving.
Meanwhile, Texas has a good defense that is playing with the home crowd behind them Saturday and will give the Mountaineers fits at time. But a great kicking game and highly efficient quarterback with an awesome offensive line will nullify that home crowd, and West Virginia makes sure that it doesn’t drop out of the Top 25.
The Mountaineers rebound from last week’s loss.
