The College Football Playoff was once again shaken up dramatically over the weekend, and now we all of a sudden have new entries into the conversation while others were eliminated.
And it has made a mess out of the whole situation as we get set to bring you our College Football Playoff projections going into Week 12.
In an odd way, the upsets have now opened the door for 2-loss teams to get into the conversation, which is something that is a little bit surprising. There are two 2-loss SEC teams in the conversation and, for reasons that can’t be explained, a 2-loss Pac-12 team as well according to the Selection Committee.
And there is still a lot of football left to be played this year.
These final three weeks and the conference championship week could all dramatically shake up the standings. Thanks to the bloodbath the SEC West teams have given each other, perhaps there will only be one team from the SEC in the playoff after all. Or perhaps there could be none.

The Pac-12 and Big 12 are open to discussion for a final college football playoff spot. The Big Ten is creeping behind, with Ohio State and Nebraska still in the running. Michigan State, Oklahoma, and LSU were the teams that lost the most this past weekend because they have certainly been eliminated from College Football Playoff talk.
And Kansas State is close to elimination.
As we get set to provide our College Football Playoff projections, remember that these are not predictions and they are not rankings. They are a mathematical projection of where the teams will be at the end of the season based on our Top 25, which we consider to be the best measuring stick for the real Top 25, and who plays whom.
That means margin of victory and style points are out the window, and head-to-head plays a huge role. So does schedule strength.
So here are our College Football Playoff projections going into Week 12 of the college football season.
