Saturday Blitz Vegas Big Ten Prediction: Rutgers Wins 27-21

Kyle Flood’s Rutgers Scarlet Knights haven’t been the prettiest team this year, but at 5-4 they are in perfect position to go bowling their first year in Big Ten play. And talk about the future then. Flood can sell that success to the entire Northeast in recruiting.

Getting there requires another win, though, and it is going to come on Saturday. Kevin Wilson’s Hoosiers were already inconsistent this year, but despite successfully running it a lot with Tevin Coleman, they went from inconsistent to flat-out pathetic and the worst team in the Big Ten. And we aren’t exaggerating.

There is no way, with a huge bowl berth on the line, that the Scarlet Knights don’t take care of business against an inferior team at home. We are confident that Flood will not let them.

But the win won’t be easy.

With a bowl game on their mind and that solid Indiana running game, expect Rutgers to struggle a lot more than normal, especially in the first half.

Gary Nova will rally the team, though, and throw a couple of second half touchdown passes while the defense settles down to ensure a close Rutgers victory.

And then the celebration about making a bowl game can start because that’s a huge accomplishment for this team this year.
