6 Tackles, 1 Interception, 65 Interception Return Yards

Anthony Walker didn’t put up the greatest stats on Saturday for Northwestern. But he was always around to make a crucial play when needed. To pick up 6 tackles and return an interception 65 yards in this situation was very impressive, and although the Northwestern offense was good enough to win that game, it was the defense that stepped up for these guys.

This freshman was a huge part of that defense and has been a huge part of the team all year. Obviously, it’s been a rough year for the Wildcats and Pat Fitzgerald’s players, but for the defense to come out and show the heart it did, along with the rest of the team, given what has happened this season was very impressive.

Walker was the catalyst behind that.

And knowing that, also knowing that he’s a freshman, is why we can’t just simply go on the stat sheet to give him credit and rank him as one of our college football top performers, although the stats are pretty good.

His mentality along with the rest of the team to come out and play the way they did also helped make him a Blitz Points winner.
