The return of Todd Gurley preparations for a very good Auburn Tigers football team meant that it was time for Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb to take a back seat again.

He did no such thing.

Sure, Gurley got his numbers with 138 yards on 29 carries. It makes Chubb’s 144 yards on 19 carries that much more impressive. We hate talking about this now knowing that Gurley is done for the season, but it’s time to once again give Chubb lots of credit for the way he performed.

This was a team win for the Dawgs in the most bittersweet way given the fact that Gurley has gone down for the season. But Chubb, as he showed in Gurley’s absence already, once again proved that he is prepared to shoulder the load and perform to the level required of an SEC running back. You can’t ask for anything more than that.

And honestly, with a mediocre quarterback who can only do so much, he has completely taken over Gurley’s responsibility of saving Hutson Mason from having to do anything to begin with.

And that all came out Saturday night against Auburn. For that, he is a Blitz Points winner.
