The catch with defensive players and recognizing them among college football top performers is that it is always much more of a team effort. If somebody picks up huge stats, it’s largely because the rest of the guys were doing their job.

For Georgia Tech, that holds true the same way it did with Alabama and Arkansas. In fact, it’s even harder. The Yellow Jackets picked off the Clemson Tigers Saturday three times, and it was a different player doing it each time. Two of them went for touchdowns. So between Jamal Golden, Chris Milton, and D.J. White, we didn’t know who to go with.

But as a safety who was able to do more across the field on Saturday and had more responsibilities, we went with Golden. He had in interception and returned it 85 yards for a touchdown, but he also picked up 2 solo tackles and assisted on 3 others. Doing all of that could not be ignored.

The junior from Alabama led a team effort in solidifying how good the Yellow Jackets really are, so he is one of our college football top performers this week.
