Obviously, there are two red flags, or questions, about Mike Gundy: would he be willing to leave Oklahoma State, and how serious are those SI charges levied against him last year?

Florida was a program known for scandals in the 1980s and have largely avoided them in football since then. Gundy could potentially be a problem there. But with no evidence against him still to this point, we’re going to trust him. Now, assuming he would leave Oklahoma State, he would be an amazing fit at Florida.

Gundy has been incredibly successful at Oklahoma State, including being one bad quarter away from the national title game in 2011, and he also runs a very efficient version of the spread offense that is more built around the weapons he has at receiver than at quarterback. Think he’d have any trouble finding stud receivers recruiting in the state of Florida? Instead of one receiver, like a Justin Blackmon or Dez Bryant, he could have three to four. And he’d have a litter of quarterbacks to find.

Gundy would be a perfect fit for Florida if he were willing to leave. He’s also entertaining in press conferences, as we have obviously seen. He likely is and should be near the top of Jeremy Foley’s coaching search.
