Why not? Seriously. Why not?

Do you honestly think Steve Spurrier is losing his touch because of a rough season at South Carolina? The fact that he’s winning at South Carolina alone is enough for us to say he should be a head coaching candidate once again at Florida.

Sure, he’s 69. So what? The guy has so much energy that he could possibly coach until he’s in his 80s. And part of that is due to the fact that he gets enough relaxation in to stay fresh during the season.

You can only do so much at South Carolina when it comes to recruiting. He’s done a great job, but he won’t have the plethora of speedsters like he had at Florida in the 1990s to dominate the competition.

And honestly, Spurrier has never been known to work too hard to recruit anyway. That’s another reason to go back to Florida, a school where the players come to you. And if you’re Spurrier, they would be even more likely to come to you.

Consecutive 11-2 seasons and Top 10 finishes at South Carolina before this year is all the proof we need about how good this guy still is. I don’t need age to change my opinion on that.

And this rough season just might be enough to make him want to go back home.
