5. team. 54. Here come Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns!!! Three weeks ago, this team was dead in the water. At 3-5, there were no sure wins left on the schedule. This team could have easily gone 3-9 and was certain to go 4-8 at best.
Then they started winning, and winning easily. Texas Tech on the road was one thing. But West Virginia at home? That was a shocker. Then came Oklahoma State on the road. And the Longhorns dominated. They have now won three straight games in convincing fashion and look like a great team that we didn’t see in the beginning of the year.

The defense has been good all year, but it has now turned great. And the offense has gone from awful to mediocre to good on Saturday. Tyrone Swoopes had 305 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions against the Cowboys. That’s a huge deal. Obviously, the Longhorns needed time to gel after the injury to quarterback David Ash and all of the dismissals and suspensions by Charlie Strong. They have finally gotten that.

And going forward, having already clinched a bowl berth, which nobody thought was possible, there is one final chance to put icing on the cake: TCU at home. That is the final game for Texas in the regular season on Thanksgiving. If they pull that off, they will have a ton of momentum going into next year. Right now they are playing as well as anybody in college football, so we have them at No. 4 in the Big 12.
. 6-5 (5-3). Previous: 4th. Texas Longhorns
