Notre Dame might be the more talented team in this situation. But the Louisville Cardinals have a stingy defense that is great at forcing turnovers. And Notre Dame has had a turnover-prone offense over the past two games.

You don’t think that’s a recipe for disaster for the Irish? Of course it is.

Gerod Holliman will add to his Heisman campaign, or what should be a Heisman campaign, by intercepting Everett Golson twice on Saturday, Bobby Petrino’s offense will move the ball just enough, and the Louisville Cardinals will pull out an incredible victory on the road against the Irish. We acknowledge that the Irish are a far more talented team.

But it also must be admitted that their biggest weaknesses play right into Louisville’s hands with that dominant defense this year. That’s going to make for a tough Cardinals victory as they move up in the Top 25 and build on momentum going into next year. We completely understand that this game could go the other way because it is contingent on the Irish making mistakes.

They’ve been very good at making those mistakes recently, though. So we have no reservations about this pick right now.
