Saturday Blitz Vegas Big 12 Prediction: Texas Tech Wins 45-31

Here’s an interesting battle. The season is a loss for both teams, but this is a chance to avoid finishing last place in the Big 12. Iowa State desperately wants to win to avoid the likely scenario of that happening. Texas Tech wants to win to avoid being in a three-way tie for last with Iowa State and Kansas. If your Kliff Kingsbury’s Red Raiders, nothing can be more embarrassing than being mentioned in the same sentence as those two teams, even if you aren’t going to a bowl game.

The Cyclones are at home and would certainly have a chance against this terrible Texas Tech defense, but we can’t give too much respect to them right now. It is still uncertain if quarterback Sam B. Richardson, the only decent spot on this team, will play Saturday, and even if he does, he’ll be severely limited due to injury. That is going to create a serious problem for these Cyclones.

Need us remind you that they recently lost to Kansas? Anyway, Texas Tech at least has somewhat of an offense with Kingsbury’s air raid system, and that should be enough to get this win on the road and move to 4-7. It is still way worse than they probably had hoped for this year, but these guys played a tough schedule with the Big 12 slate and then Arkansas out of conference. So not finishing last in the Big 12 is still something to play for.
