Saturday Blitz Vegas Pac 12 Prediction: Arizona State Wins 35-28

This is going to be one of those games that Mike Leach’s Washington State Cougars manage to stay in, going toe to toe and matching score for score with that air raid offense. But it will be just short in the end.

The Cougars haven’t missed a beat with Connor Halliday gone, and they might even be better. Despite being 3-7, they looked great in their upset over Oregon State, and then Oregon State went on to beat Arizona State. So don’t think that on a good day Washington State won’t be able to beat Arizona State.

It won’t happen, though, because of Todd Graham’s heavily balanced offense. Taylor Kelly and D.J. Foster will be too much, along with Jaelen Strong, that the Sun Devils will pull it out in the end. Strong’s health issues, the talent that Washington State has, and the inconsistency Kelly displays every now and them will keep Washington State in the game.

But despite having 2 losses, Arizona State is still very much in the Pac-12 South race and potential College Football Playoff race. So they can’t let their chances fall in a home loss to one of the worst Pac-12 teams.
