Saturday Blitz Vegas SEC Prediction: Auburn Wins 59-10

We’re going to give Gus Malzahn’s Auburn Tigers the same treatment we just gave Alabama, which is to question why we have to explain picking them to win this game. Okay, we know we do, but we also know it’s going to be a blowout. Any five-year old who has never  watched football could figure that out.

The Auburn Tigers have obviously suffered massively disappointing back-to-back losses that knocked them out of the national title race. This weekend will be a good game for them to regroup in a de facto bye week but still being able to play a football game.

Nick Marshall made clear this past week that he would like to play quarterback in the NFL even though he is open to switching positions. He’ll have his chance to rack up some stats as an actual passer this week against Samford. Actually, he may not, because Malzahn will likely pull him out early to make sure he’s not hurt.

I guess it makes sense for both Alabama and Auburn to play weak games with the Iron Bowl on the horizon the next week. But it creates a boring weekend for the rest of us in that state.
