18-of-27 for 276 Yard, 21 Carries for 98 Yards,  4 Total Touchdowns

With a bowl berth on the line, the North Carolina Tar Heels, who had struggled with inconsistency all season, strolled into Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham on Thursday night in need of a win. And it was against the first-place team in the ACC Coastal who was just in the Top 25 a week ago.

Against David Cutcliffe’s well-coached Duke Blue Devils, who have been winning all year due to tough defense, Marquise Williams stepped up and became the superstar. To throw for 276 yards and 2 touchdowns and rush for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns and not throw an interceptions was absolutely incredible. And Williams led the Tar Heels to a blowout win against their arch-rivals.

Larry Fedora’s team is now 6-5 and likely going to make a bowl game. And all of the credit in the world for that goes to Williams’s performance. He was great all night, setting the tone early with 2 touchdown passes in the first quarter. Then he ran for one in the second quarter, and at halftime he had UNC going to the locker room with a shocking 28-7 lead.

Williams has played well all season, but this time he played great and had it result in a win. The Tar Heels look like they have a bright future ahead of them. And Williams looks like he’ll be a great player. His performance Saturday earned him a Blitz Points award from us.
