34 Carries for 427 Yards and 5 Touchdowns

The Oklahoma Sooners really didn’t have anything to play for. We didn’t want to give them any type of credit for blowing out Kansas. But Samaje Perine’s performance could not be ignored.

The running back should have been the full-time starter for the Sooners all year, and despite this game coming against Kansas, we can’t ignore what he did. Running for 427 yards and breaking the rushing record a week after Melvin Gordon broke it can’t be ignored. When you consider that he also had 5 touchdowns, it’s flat-out incredible what he did.

Perine had 5 carries for 209 yards on his touchdown runs alone! Even against the Kansas Jayhawks, that’s impressive. As a record-setting rusher, we can’t leave him off this list, and when you consider that Oklahoma has no real passing game, his numbers are even more remarkable.

We have to put him on our list for that performance. Even if Gordon’s game against a good Nebraska team was more impressive, Perine’s game has never been done before. And plenty of other running backs have played terrible defenses and didn’t put up those numbers.

So we are putting him on our Blitz Points list.
