In-state rival Clemson to close out the season is a game both teams desperately want to win to better position themselves in the bowl game picture. And the Gamecocks will face at least a decent offense when they play the Tigers and a great defense, so we get to see just how good this team is now.

And just like that, a thrilling victory over Florida allowed Steve Spurrier’s offense to dominate South Alabama and get bowl eligible.

So a 6-5, the disappointing season finally had some bright spots shine through.

The offense is still a problem and was once again one on Saturday, as Dylan Thompson still has struggled at times to put up lots of points and a Spurrier system hell-bent on putting up points. That’s the biggest reason for the disappointing season this year. But the defense was also a problem throughout as it adjusted to a 3-4, and fortunately, that side of the ball appears to be finally coming together. However, it only showed against terrible offenses, so there is one final game to test this team.
