Saturday Blitz Vegas SEC Prediction: South Carolina Wins 27-20

This bet hinges on the fact that Clemson is going to start Cole Stoudt. If Dabo Swinney determines that Deshaun Watson is healthy enough to play, forget this pick.

But we don’t think he will be.

Stoudt has been efficient and reliable at the helm but unable to put up huge numbers for his team. That’s going to be a problem against a very good South Carolina defense that just needs to adjust to a new 3-4 scheme. That defense will be able to force enough issues on Stoudt to keep him from putting up enough points.

Meanwhile, Dylan Thompson’s accuracy comes and goes, but against Clemson, Spurrier will use his genius to make Thompson look amazing. He has shown deadly accuracy at times when the moment mattered most, and he’ll come through again on Saturday as he leads the Gamecocks to victory.

There is still too much talent on this team despite the 6-5 record for us to say that it can’t pull out a victory against the Clemson Tigers, even on the road. South Carolina moves to 7-5 in a huge rivalry win to salvage the season.
