Saturday Blitz Vegas Pac 12 Prediction: California Wins 34-30
All of a sudden, Christian Stewart has been playing very well at quarterback for the BYU Cougars. After struggling to a 5-game losing streak, these guys are on a 3-game winning streak. But it’s not going to matter. That ends Saturday against Cal.
BYU’s winning streak has been against Middle Tennessee, UNLV, and Savannah State. That’s nothing to be excited about, and they’ll come crashing down to Earth on the road in Berkeley, but just barely.
The Golden Bears have a bowl game they desperately need to make, and that requires beating the Cougars. They also have a quarterback in Jared Goff who is capable of putting up lots of points, particularly when his team plays no defense, which is unfortunately too often.
However, BYU still isn’t great on defense against halfway decent teams, which Cal is, and that will show this weekend.
So on Saturday the Golden Bears and Cougars will be locked in a shootout, but the victory will go to Cal at home. Goff throws for 3 touchdowns and 400 yards in the process, and Cal gets a game-winning drive at the end.
