6. Oregon Ducks, 11-1 (7-1)

Last Game: Defeated Oregon State Beavers 47-19

Next Game: Arizona Wildcats in Pac-12 Championship

Let the screaming begin. We are breaking from the Selection Committee and both polls to put the Oregon Ducks this low for this week, and once again we will be accused of having an anti-Pac-12 bias. But read a bit deeper, and our reasons are obvious.

Among the teams with one loss, only Baylor has a worse strength of schedule than the Ducks, and since the Bears get to jump TCU, who belongs over Oregon, Oregon then has to be the lowest-ranked team in our Top 6. Oregon’s schedule strength is now No. 87. That’s about 20 spots below TCU and Ohio State. They have no business being in league with those two teams when its that low, so we’re keeping them down here.

However, this can change quickly. The Ducks play Arizona this weekend, which will definitely improve their strength of schedule, and at the same time, TCU only plays Iowa State. So don’t freak out yet because if they move ahead of TCU this week, they’re back in the Top 4.
