2. Alabama Crimson Tide, 11-1 (7-1)

Last Game: Defeated Auburn Tigers 55-44

Next Game: Missouri Tigers in the SEC Championship

Another quality win against the Auburn Tigers did make it very hard for us not to bump Alabama into that No. 1 spot because that is three quality wins, LSU, Auburn, and Mississippi State, that they have, and the loss to Ole Miss now doesn’t look bad. But we couldn’t do it.

Florida State is still undefeated, and although Alabama has played a much tougher schedule than the Seminoles, it is not so much tougher that they should be ahead of them when they have a loss. Sorry, but that is just the way things go. But for fans in Tuscaloosa, it probably doesn’t matter. All that’s important is that their team get into the College Football Playoff, and all they have to do is win for that to happen.

With Missouri coming up, the Tide will have a chance to add to their resume as well because this is not going to be any easy SEC Championship game, and Nick Saban likely knows it. So there is still a chance for this team to move up into the No. 1 spot.
