18. Auburn Tigers, 8-4 (4-4)

Last Game: Lost to Alabama Crimson Tide 55-44

Next Game: Bowl Game

Just like LSU, the Auburn Tigers are a 4-loss team that belong firmly ahead of quite a few other 3-loss teams and certainly ahead of any other 4-loss team. It’s disappointing for them not to match last year’s success, but when you look at the stretch they had, it’s not a surprise.

We just talked about LSU’s strength of schedule. Well, these guys have the top strength of schedule of any team in college football this year, and they scored quality wins against Kansas State, LSU, and Ole Miss. By the way, their losses came against Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia, and Mississippi State. That’s nothing to be ashamed of either. They were just a victim of the incredibly deep SEC West this year, where everybody will make a bowl game, and they also played two of the top teams in the other division along with a game against Kansas State.
