Oregon Ducks Win Pac 12 Championshipp
It has been a year of exercising demons for the Oregon Ducks.
These guys have been told for years that they could not compete with physical football teams. It showed again earlier this year when they lost at home to the Arizona Wildcats.
Well, after that, they have shut down the theory completely.
The Ducks have dominated everybody since then, consistently getting over humps that plagued them.
It started when they totally dominated the Stanford Cardinal earlier this year, a team that has had their number the past two years due to what was considered a physical advantage.
In this game, it was a rematch with Arizona, who beat the Ducks last year in addition to early this year. Rich Rodriguez’s physical line play appeared to be too much for the Ducks right?
Wrong.

Oregon dominated Arizona in every phase of the game, from the line of scrimmage to the turnover battle to the performance of the skill players. Marcus Mariota looked every bit like a Heisman candidate, throwing for 313 yards and rushing for another 33 yards to go along with 5 total touchdowns in the biggest game of the year for the Ducks, who beat the Wildcats 51-13.
It should be noted that Arizona was significantly injured against Arizona, with three guys on the offensive line out at that point. Maybe that’s why Oregon didn’t look physical in that game.
But on Friday, the Ducks did, and now they have locked up a spot in the College Football Playoff. Their quality wins now include Arizona, Stanford, UCLA, Washington, Utah, and Michigan State.
It’s very hard for any team to match that resume, and the Ducks deserve a spot in the Rose Bowl.
And now, everybody should respect how rough and tough Oregon is.
These guys run a great system that always keeps them relevant, but now they have lifted the monkeys hampering them down off of their backs this season. Maybe the elusive national championship can be achieved next.
