Saturday Blitz Vegas Bowl Prediction: Boston College Wins 24-13

Christian Hackenberg has become easier and easier to figure out as the season has gone on. With a four-week layoff, Steve Addazio should have no trouble figuring him out and designing a game plan to render him virtually useless, the way James Franklin’s first Penn State team has looked on offense throughout much of the year.

Fortunately for Penn State, the defense is so good that it will still be able to keep the game close, but once again, Addazio’s rushing system is unlike anything Penn State has seen all year, even against rush-heavy Big Ten teams. As a result, Tyler Murphy and that Boston College running game will be too much for the Nittany Lions to handle when the offense can’t score.

This is a great setting with a team from the Mid-Atlantic and a team from the northeast meeting halfway in New York City, but the game will turn into somewhat of a dud when it is all said and done. It was a good match-up in theory, but Penn State is still a year away from getting back to Penn State football under Franklin.

At least Nittany Lions fans can celebrate the fact that the future is incredibly bright in State College if they stay patient. It just won’t look that way at Yankee Stadium.
