Saturday Blitz Vegas Bowl Prediction: Ole Miss Wins 24-20
Before we get started on this pick, let’s first say that we don’t want to attack the TCU Horned Frogs simply because it was evident that they didn’t belong in the College Football Playoff. Gary Patterson and the entire program was very gracious in being left out, even if they disagreed with the decision. That is a classy ,move, and it makes it very clear that the Horned Frogs will still be motivated to play in this bowl game thanks to their great coach.
Unfortunately, it won’t matter.
Trevone Boykin is about to be hit with the best secondary he has seen all year in college football, and combining that with the speed up front for Ole Miss will make it very difficult for him to be able to constantly extend plays and make huge throws. A bold prediction here is that Senquez Golson will come away with two interceptions to keep the Horned Frogs from doing anything.
Meanwhile, although the Rebels are still suffering injuries and Bo Wallace is a flat-out scrub in big moments, they will be good enough in this game to not screw things up while the defense does its job. That Boykin was a Heisman candidate will be completely forgotten after this.
Ole Miss is also very familiar with the Georgia Dome, having blown out another New Year’s Six team there, Boise State, at the beginning of the season. This game won’t be a blowout, but it will be another win as the Rebels close out the year with a 10-3 record up against arguably the toughest schedule in the nation.
Ole Miss wins a close one for the SEC.
