Texas A&M Assistant Michael Richardson Hits West Virginia Players
Texas A&M Graduate Assistant Michael Richardson was told to stay in the locker room for the second half after shoving one West Virginia player and hitting another in the back of the head during the first half of the Liberty Bowl.
This was the hit here.
Richardson is a former player for the Aggies back in 2012 and looked like he wanted to go into coaching. With that in mind, this was an incredibly stupid move.
You’re not a player anymore. You can’t just get a suspension and move on. As a coach, this move could derail his entire career. Richardson comes across as a player incredibly upset that he still can’t wear the helmet and shoulder pads, and he’s taking it out on the opposition by getting physical from the sidelines.
Well, it may just cost him a long term coaching career.
At least Kevin Sumlin had the right idea to force him into the locker room for the second half of the game. Sumlin has shown himself to be tough on players throughout his tenure, including Kenny “Trill” earlier in the year.
It at least proves wrong those people who attacked him for being to soft on Johnny Manziel.
