10. Oklahoma State Cowboys
2014 Finish: 7-6 (Defeated Washington Huskies 30-22 in Cactus Bowl)
Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State Cowboys were supposed to be in a massive rebuilding phase this past year. An injury to starting quarterback J.W. Walsh made things even worse, but their fans gained some false hope as they entered the Top 25 in the first half of the season.
But then reality set in, and by the end of the year, especially after an injury to backup quarterback Daxx Garman, it seemed unlikely that they would reach a bowl. The final two games, however, changed that. The Cowboys got to 6-6 with a major upset of the incredibly disappointing Oklahoma Sooners this past year, and then they beat Washington in the Cactus Bowl.
Now, with a 7-6 finish, lots of momentum, and with 16 starters coming back on both sides of the ball, not to mention everybody getting healthy, there is lots of excitement among Cowboys fans. Mason Rudolph became a very good starting quarterback and will now be able to have a full year under his belt. Fans could be thinking big next year. By big, they could be looking to compete for the Big 12 Championship.
