10. A. LSU Tigers, Three Players (Two on Roster, One on Injured Reserve)

Players on New England: Brandon LaFell (WR), Stevan Ridley (RB-IR)

Players on Seattle: Tharold Simon (CB)

       B. Purdue Boilermakers, Three Players (Two on Roster, One on Injured Reserve)

Players on New England: Rob Nikovich (DE), Greg Orton (WR-IR)

Players on Seattle: Cliff Avril (DE)

There was literally no way to separate these two teams. With just the healthy players, Purdue would win. Rob Nikovich and Cliff Avril are both valuable players, and while Tharold Simon of LSU is on the Seattle roster, he does not see much action. Brandon LaFell, however, sees a lot of action.

But we have to give credit to a point with injured players if they have contributed significantly to their team. And Stevan Ridley would add much more to the team going into the Super Bowl, particularly more than Greg Orton, a Purdue player on New England’s Injured Reserve. LSU deserves some points for him, which is enough to make this a tie.

Overall, both teams at least have recognizable players in the Super Bowl, and we can’t legitimately knock either one of them off of this list.

So LSU and Purdue both get to squeak in at the bottom.
