ESPN has filed a lawsuit against University of Notre Dame claiming the school violated the state of Indiana’s public records laws by withholding police incident reports of possible campus crimes involving certain student athletes, according to the Associated Press.

"The lawsuit filed Jan. 15 on behalf of ESPN and its reporter Paula Lavigne says state Public Access Counselor Luke Britt has twice issued advisory opinions stating the university is subject to Indiana’s public records law. The lawsuit and opinions don’t specify what incident reports ESPN is seeking or which athletes may have been involved.In his first opinion on Oct. 31, Britt said that while the university is private, Notre Dame Security Police Department is a public law enforcement agency subject to public records laws. He acknowledged that his view may be inconsistent with past opinions from other public access counselors, but that it wasn’t inconsistent with Indiana’s public records law."

Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones donates $10.65 million to Arkansas Athletics, according to http://www.arkansasrazorbacks.com/.

"In recognition of the Jones’ gift, a recommendation has been made to the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees to name the new facility the Jerry and Gene Jones Family Student-Athlete Success Center. The Board will consider the resolution during its regularly scheduled meetings today and tomorrow in Little Rock.Other recognitions of the gift include the Wild Band of Razorbacks monument made possible by Jerry Jones. The football locker room at the Fred W. Smith Football Center will be named the Jerry and Stephen Jones Locker Room, while the entrance lobby of the proposed Jerry and Gene Jones Family Student-Athlete Success Center will be named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. John Chambers, Gene Jones’ parents."

Georgia Bulldogs football coach Mark Richt has been given a two-year contract extension and $800,000 a year raise to his salary, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"Richt’s previous contract, which paid him $3.2 million per year, was due to expired after the 2017 season. The new deal — which calls for a $4 million annual salary — will end after the 2019 season. No other contract details were immediately available.“We are very pleased with the direction of our program under Mark’s leadership,” Georgia Athletic Director Greg McGarity. “Mark and his staff are making significant strides in all areas of our program, and we look forward to great things in the years to come.”"

Michigan State and BYU have announced a home-and-home series in 2016 and 2020, according to byucougars.com.

"The teams will meet at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Michigan, on Oct 8, 2016, with the second game being played at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on Sept. 12, 2020.“I’m excited about this series with one of the top programs in the Big Ten,” said BYU Director of Athletics Tom Holmoe. “We haven’t played many games in the Great Lakes region and I like scheduling opponents like Michigan State that we’ve never played in football. It’s exciting for Cougar Nation and it’s a great experience for our coaches and players.”"

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers defensive lineman Avery Moss is following Bo Pelini to Youngstown State, according to multiple reports including CBS Sports.

"Moss confirmed the news to the Associated Press, saying he enrolled at the Ohio school after he had his appeal to be readmitted at Nebraska denied. Moss was banned from the Nebraska campus following an incident in December 2012 in which he was accused of exposing himself to a female employee of an on-campus convenience store twice."

Arizona Cardinals Pro-Bowl Lineman Calais Campbell has given $1.6 million to the University of Miami-Florida, according to www.hurricanesports.com.

"Calais Campbell, former University of Miami football student-athlete, current NFL Pro Bowler with the Arizona Cardinals and founder of the CRC Foundation, has made a gift of $1.6 million to endow The Calais Campbell Football Defensive Lineman Endowed Scholarship to the University of Miami Department of Athletics.This endowment marks the largest total gift from a former student athlete in University of Miami Athletics history, which includes the recent $1.5 million gift from former running back Ken Hunt. With this gift, the Athletics Department has surpassed $106 million toward the University of Miami’s fundraising campaign known as Momentum2: The Breakthrough Campaign for the University of Miami.’"

Former Iowa and Utah head coach Ray Nagel has died at age 87, according to ESPN.

"The Los Angeles native played quarterback for UCLA and began his coaching career there as an assistant.Nagel coached and played for the NFL’s Chicago Cardinals in 1953 and worked as an assistant coach at Oklahoma from 1954 to 1957.He was head coach at Utah from 1958 to 1965 and at Iowa from 1966 to 1970."
